![]() The fruit of the Spirit in your own life is what helps you be fruitful in the world. Scripture tells us that “when the Holy Spirit controls our lives,” we will show these things in increasing measure. Is what we are saying or doing filled with a whole lot of love, whole lot of joy, whole lot of peace, whole lot of patience, whole lot of kindness, whole lot of gentleness? If not, it’s probably not of the Spirit. God has given us a clear filter of what it means to look like Jesus in all areas of our lives: in our thoughts, actions, words and relationships. Every Christian should agree on the necessity of reaching out to the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ. I can’t stop thinking about the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5 lately. Christian Outreach Center has been ministering to children in Pinellas County for over 20 years. For over thirty years, Catholic Christian Outreach has been on a mission to bring together a huge international community of missionary disciples, primarily among university students. ![]() ![]() 3 We give students a vision for serving Jesus Christ in their studies, jobs, communities, and families. 2 We serve together with the church and invite students into the lives of local congregations. And that shouldn’t surprise us, since some of the most divisive and self-centered people in our churches are those who are highly gifted, know the Bible inside and out, and exhibit a zeal that puts the rest of us to shame. 1 We share the Gospel with students and develop passionate disciples of Jesus Christ. This means character-not giftedness, not biblical knowledge, not zeal. Each year, the Chesterton House brings a group of students to attend the conference.Larry Osborne in Sticky Teams shares a similar sentiment: “Spiritual maturity is a life that consistently exhibits the character of Jesus Christ. Whether students are interested in engineering and science or art and music, law and politics or medicine and mission, justice and families or college life and the years to come, Jubilee will have someone speaking about what it means to be involved in those places faithfully. Hundreds of teenagers were coming to Christ through Young Life and other local youth ministries, but when they went off to college, there were few opportunities. Both the CCO and Chesterton House long to see Cornell students growing deeper in their faith as they commit themselves to thoughtful academic study.
