I think Apple just put a lid on GPU load to get a smoother graphics and possibly avoid overheating of the GPU inside a laptop. I have purchased another tv in the meantime, but I'm hoping I didn't just miss something completely obvious. The 2013 Mac Pro can drive 4K at 60 Hz, the 2013 rMBPs can drive 4K at 30 Hz (and they have a one year newer Intel graphics than your Mac Mini, assuming its a 2012 model). I have purchased a very nice brand new cable capable of 8k UHD so I am 100% sure it is not a cable problem as even the original cable I had used to connect to the Samsung allowed 60Hz 0:00 / 3:02 Troubleshoot LG 27UD68-W 4K 27' Monitor 30Hz to 60Hz (Mouse Lagging, Low Graphic Problem) Tario Sultan 21.1K subscribers Subscribe 62K views 4 years ago I recently upgraded my. My system specs are as follows: i7 10700k, z490-e mobo, EVGA 3070 Ultra, 32GB RAM, like 6TB storage & a 750CX. It is random which of the monitors will revert to 30 Hz. After a little bit, with the mac going to sleep, one of the two monitors will revert to 30 Hz and cannot be set back to 60 Hz. I am on the latest NVIDIA driver & Windows 10 update. My issue is that the refresh rate on one of the monitors will max out at 30 Hz. With it off, however, I have a functional screen with the resolutions selectable with everything above 1080p capped at 30Hz. I have tried different color settings to no avail. The Full UHD setting is turned off with it on, I get a constant no signal screen. I connected the same computer to my Samsung 7 Series 55" tv and found the 60Hz function to work right off the bat. There are many SD, HD & UHD settings and only two super low res PC options. I also bought a cable that supports 4K at 60Hz but weirdly enough I can't get the refresh rate to 60Hz. It is a 4K monitor from Philips, the Philips 276E8V. I now have a system with a 3070 capable of 4k, and now have found the 60hz setting has disappeared. Refresh rate external monitor at 30Hz instead of 60Hz Hi, I recently bought a new monitor to connect to my iMac. At the time, my system was running a GTX 1070 that could stream 4k but not play video games reliably, so I kept it at 1080p 60Hz globally so as to not have to switch constantly. A little background: I absolutely know for a definite fact that I've had 4k resolution work at 60Hz in the past. If you can't see the Finder or can't start SwitchResX Preferences itself, you'll have to delete the monitor profile file. This will delete all changes that you have made for this monitor. You should remove this file, if you can access the file system, either byġ) accessing the file system from an other Mac on the network, via Remote Desktop, from ssh or by mounting a shared folder.ģ) OR via Target Disk mode if you have an other MacĤ) OR at last resort: reinstalling the OS above the existing install, which will keep your existing settings, but remove the system modified files.Hello to all I've kept myself up the past two nights researching possible fixes but have come up dry on all ends. If you can get to the Finder, open SwitchResX Preferences, and press the 'reset' or 'factory defaults' button in SwitchResX Preferences for your monitor. It is the last modified file, that you can find if you sort by date. This file is located in /System/Library/Displays/Overrides/ on OS X up to 10.11, in /System/Library/Displays/Contents/Resources/Overrides/ on OSX 10.11 up to macOS 10.15.1, and finally in /Library/Displays/Contents/Resources/Overrides/ on macOS 10.15.2 and above. If you can get to the Finder, open SwitchResX Preferences, and press the "reset" or "factory defaults" button in SwitchResX Preferences for your monitor. Release the shift key when you see the "spinning gear" on the startup screen. After installing SwitchResX you will be able to manually increase monitor frequency. Youll need to lessen the resolution, turn off HDR, or go down to 4:2:2 to be within HDMI 2.0s bandwidth limitations. HDMI cable is not capable to provide more than 30Hz. When you hear the startup tone, hold down the shift key. If youre trying to do 4K/60 + HDR + 4:4:4 then youre exceeding the bandwidth of HDMI 2.0 and that could be why youre getting blank screens and options not being available. To do that, turn your system off, then restart. You will have to remove the defined resolution from the macOS monitor profile file that SwitchResX had modified.įirst, try to reboot in safe mode. The resolution that you've defined may not be displayed on your screen, so the screen shows black or displays "signal not recognized".
